Staking pools

Lend your stake's weight to a pool and share the rewards of the blocks it produces. Your coins stay in your wallet, and you can leave at any time.

How delegation works

Your coins stay yours

Delegating adds your stake's weight to the pool's. Your staking output keeps its single spending condition, your own key, and the pool never holds anything of yours.

Leave at any time

Leaving takes one action from your wallet and needs nobody's permission. Your weight is yours again the moment it confirms.

What you trust a pool with

The reward, and only the reward. A pool's payout commitment lives on-chain, and a change to it has to be announced 1,440 blocks in advance, which is your time to read it and leave.

Payout types

PayoutHow you are paidGood to know
Proportional Your exact share of every reward, minus the fee. Rewards collect in an on-chain pot and anyone can trigger the payout. Claim before you leave: leaving forfeits whatever is still in the pot for you.
Lottery Each block pays one delegator, drawn by stake weight from Bitcoin's proof of work. Over time your share is exact, minus the fee. Rewards arrive in occasional whole blocks rather than steadily.
Fixed address Every block pays one address the operator has committed to. The chain stops silent redirects. It does not check that the address pays you anything.
None The operator keeps every reward. The default for a signer that has committed to nothing.

Production

A pool holding a tenth of the network's stake should produce about a tenth of the blocks. The Production column compares the blocks a pool produced over the last 500 blocks with the number its stake entitled it to. On target is 90% or more, Missing blocks is 60% to 90%, and Offline is below that, where delegators earn nothing for the weight they lent. Running ahead of target over a short window is chance.

Delegate

From Sequentia Core

The Staking tab lists these pools; pick one and delegate. It shows what the pool has committed to, warns you when it announces a change, and leaves in one action. A registered stake is all you need; the wallet can be offline afterwards. Download Sequentia Core

Run a pool

From Sequentia Core

Open the Staking tab and choose Run a staking pool. Pick a payout type and a fee; the wallet explains each choice before you commit. Your pool appears here the moment the announcement is mined, and the commitment binds after the notice period.

From a node

sequentia-cli -rpcwallet=<wallet> -named announcepayout mode=split commission_bp=500

mode=lottery for a lottery, mode=direct address=… for a fixed address. The fee is in basis points: 500 is 5%.
